Is your phone the cause of your anxiety?

Several studies reveal a positive correlation between cell phones and anxiety levels.

Since smart phones are essentially king in the current modern day world we live in, it’s not our fault that we are suffering from these psychological consequences.

Smart phones rule over businesses, either you post online or you get left behind.

It is also our main way of communication between friends, when was the last time anyone picked up their phone to call a friend? Do people even purchase house phones when they move out anymore? I don’t think so.

SO HOW DO WE REDUCE:

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • low self-esteem
  • sleep disturbances

The answer is simple: SELF CARE RITUALS

According to The Canadian Mental Health Association it has been clinically proven that self-care rituals

Create TIME BLOCKS where you are spending time AWAY from your phone. And stick to it.

Examples of time blocks:

BEFORE BED

2 hours before bed, put your phone away.

It feels good to be unreachable, in your own bubble.

MASSAGES

No phones allowed during a massage. It’s a rule. You will get to experience the most blissful 90 minutes where your tension is quite literally melting away through the art of touch. Unwind and let go.

AT THE GYM

Put your phone on AIRPLANE MODE so you can tune out the notifications while enjoying your music. You can present your playlist so you don’t need to look at it yourself.

GO TO YOGA

No phone’s in any yoga studio! And you get the perks of meeting new faces that most probably share similar interests.

READ A BOOK

When you read, you are transported into your own world. A world that will make you forget about your daily stressed, a world that doesn’t require you to think. You will feel like you took a mini holiday.

WHEN YOU EAT

The best rule you can implement in your life is no phones at the dinnnnerrrr tableeee!!! When we eat, we connect. We are connecting to our senses, we are connecting with the potential people sharing the meal with us. If you are alone, take this moment to root in the present and reflect on where your ingredients came from to land on your plate. Practice Gratitude.
